Gordon Lee Moench

Gordon Lee Moench, 83, passed away on February 25, 2021 at his La Junta home. He was born on March 9, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio to Lester Karl & Jane K. (Egelhoff) Moench.

Gordon loved the Lord and was a loving husband to Helen for 64 years and was role model and great father to his four children. Gordon & Helen retired to the La Junta community in 1994, where he was able to realize his lifelong dream of owning a small farm. He was an active member in his church and community, volunteering as a member of the Ark Valley Pregnancy Center. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of the La Junta home; children, Darlene Moench of La Junta; Gordon Moench, Jr. of Canon City; Laurie (Frank) Zele of Aguilar, CO; Lydia Moench of Golden, CO; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Tim Moench of Columbus, OH; Janie Kaeser of Ashland, OH; Debbie (David) DeWees of Hilliard, OH; numerous nieces & nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Les Moench, Lou Schurtz and Phylis Egan; grandson, Joe Pryor.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the La Junta Baptist Tabernacle with Pastor Tim Muth officiating.
