J. Lynn Martin

Our master of knowledge has moved on to another adventure at 69 years old while at home with her sister in La Junta, Colorado on June 28, 2025. A hole has been placed inside our hearts and the community.

She leaves behind her younger sisters, Yolanda Martin, Corinne (Brett Pavlik) Brown, Catherine Martin, Carin Martin. As well as a brother Kevin Owens. Nieces, Shawna (Donald) Biby, Samantha (Cassiopia) Brockett-Cox, Chelsea (Ben) Blevins and Krystal Martin. Nephews, Jason (Vanessa Mares) Martin, Carlton (Ashley) Brown, Kevin (Jacob Ward) Bevel and Michael Martin. Numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins and ex-husband Tim Byrnes. Proceeded in death by her father, Samuel Martin, mother Connie Joann Southerland, grandparents, Olive and Cecil Martin, and brother, Jeffery Martin.

Known to many as the town of La Junta libraries own mascot, jack-of-all-trades, craft leader and fountain of facts through her 20 years of service. Born in Rocky Ford and sticking around the lower Ark Valley most of her life she also spent many years bartending in Fowler at The Tamarack Grill previously known as Stockman Restaurant.

Very independent and confident with her literal genius level abundance of facts. Known for her admiration of cats, knowledge, family and building anything with her hands. She valued her friends as well as the library patrons. There was not a puzzle she could not conquer.

Her passing has left a hole in the community she adored. Cherished by all those who knew her and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held at the Woodruff Memorial Library in La Junta, CO, later date to be determined.
