James Daniel Morin, 77, of Onley Springs, Colorado, passed away on November 1, 2026, at his home. He was born on April 6, 1949, in Zanesville, Ohio to Charles E. & Della E. (Nethers) Morin.
James Daniel “Dan” “REO” Morin spent his childhood growing up in Toboso, Ohio. At age 17, Dan had his father sign him into the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the Tet Offensive in Vietnam and eight other major operations.
Once honorably discharged from the Marines, Dan was in a horrible car accident. After many months, he recovered and started his masonry work, which brought him to Florida.
In 1987, Dan moved to Olney Springs, Colorado, where he began his retirement and built his legacy, the All Vets All Wars Memorial, and many more! Dan spent all of his time giving back to his fellow veterans by giving them the recognition they deserved.
Dan had a fourth child later in life. By now, he was more mature and understood the impact he could have on a child. Dan was the best father, and his son was his pride and joy.
REO was loved by all who knew him and didn't know a stranger. Although he had been through such darkness, he was always the brightest smile in the room. He lived life to the fullest, all the way up until his last breath.
Dan is survived by his children, James Morin of Ohio, Jason Morin of Ohio, Maverick Morin of Virginia & Michael (Justi) Morin of Fowler, Colorado; granddaughter, Alizae Morin; sister, Rebekah Baker and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Della & Charles Morin and his brother, Richard Morin.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta, Colorado with Pastor Jeremy Hoyt of Crowley Baptist Church officiating. Burial to follow at Fort Lyon National Cemetery in Las Animas, Colorado at 12:30 p.m.
