James Paul Martinez

James Paul Martinez, 38, passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2022 at his La Junta home. He was born on February 10, 1984 in La Junta to Ernest & Vicky (Hernandez) Martinez.

James loved his animals, music and hats. He enjoyed cooking and helping people. He was a huge fan of the Las Vegas Raiders.

James is survived by his parents, Ernest & Vicky Martinez of La Junta; children, Christopher and Desi Martinez of La Junta, Victoria Martinez of La Junta, Zamian Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO, Jeremiah Gonzales of La Junta; brother, Ernest Martinez, Jr of La Junta; sister, Jessica Martinez of La Junta; brothers, Marcel Magana, Kurt Magana & Phillip Magana; sister, Nancy Rivera; numerous aunts & uncles, but his favorite was Jean Hernandez; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Martinez, nephew, Jeremiah Gutierrez, grandparents, Pablo & Luz Martinez and Phillip & Eva Hernandez.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta.
