John Paul Archuleta, Sr., 82, passed away on April 24, 2021 at his La Junta home. He was born to Antonio Avan & Cipriana (Vigil) Archuleta in La Junta, Colorado on November 14, 1938.
John served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid fisherman, loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved his coffee in the morning and his Snickers candy bars in the afternoon. He was a lifelong Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed watching baseball. He enjoyed being outside in the fresh air and working on his car. He worked as a truck driver.
He is survived by his children, Christina Archuleta of La Junta; John Paul Archuleta, Jr. of Denver; grandchildren, Angelo (Ashelee) Archuleta and Bernadette Archuleta; great-grandchildren, Antonio Archuleta, Sarahi Bolanos-Archuleta, JoseLuis Ramos-Archuleta, Sophia Rivas, Mattiao Romero, George Archuleta and Aviana Archuleta; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ida Sandoval, Mary Whatley, Lee Archuleta, Sr., Steve Archuleta, Mike Archuleta, Tony Archuleta, Albert Archuleta, Rose Archuleta-Lozano, Aurora Archuleta, Mable Lovato, Louie Archuleta and Alice Whatley.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, May 7, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Victor Raj officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery with military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8. Visitation will be May 6, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
