Joy Cecil “J.C.” Dellinger, 90, of Rocky Ford, formerly La Junta, Colorado passed away peacefully at home with his family on October 1, 2026. He was born on September 14, 1936, to George and Attilia “Attie” Dellinger in Kansas. J.C. married Karen Harwood on June 28, 1959, and they resided in La Junta, Colorado. They were married for 67 years; she preceded him in death on July 16, 2026.
J. C. was a conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1998. He and Karen then moved to Rocky Ford, where they farmed and raised cattle. J.C. enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
J.C. is survived by his sister, Joan Cartwright; brother Jack Dellinger; children, Karey (Buddy) Mueller, Harley (Jill) Dellinger and Georgia Dellinger; Grandchildren, Addison Mueller, Nathan (Emily) Mueller, Amanda Fenty, Nina (Devon) Higgins, Brittani (Jared) Cass, Brett (Sylvia Escobedo) Dellinger, Craig Weaver, Chad Weaver & Katie (Sterling) Martson; Great- grandchildren, Kate, Kaylee & J. T. Mueller; Spencer, Shane, Sammy, Summer & Sophie Fenty; Aiden & Abigail Cass; Harlen Dellinger; Conner, Cooper & Charlotte Weaver; Sterling Jr., Charlie, Corey & Clayton Martson.
J.C. is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Dellinger; parents, George & Attie Dellinger; four brothers; two sisters and grandson, Brandon Dellinger.
Per J.C.’s wishes, a private family service will take place at a later date.
