Kathy Garcia

Kathy Garcia, 66 years of age, entered into rest on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado with her children, grandchildren, and brother by her side. Kathy was born on October 12, 1958, in La Junta, CO, to Elfego Garcia and Rita Abeyta, both of whom preceded her in death. Kathy was also met in heaven by her granddaughter, Serena Herrera, who also preceded her in death.

Kathy’s greatest and most treasured joy in life was her family. Being with them was the most important thing to her. Some of her other favorite things were family BBQs, fishing, traveling, and reading.

Kathy is survived by her children, Vincent (Yvonne) Garcia of La Junta and Yvonne Bargas of Colorado Springs; her grandchildren, Angelina Garcia, Elijah Garcia, Joseph Tapia, Jaelynn Tapia, Jazlynn Tapia, and Santino Herrera. She is one of five siblings: Greg Garcia of New Mexico, Arleen Runion of Kansas, Al Garcia of La Junta, and Fabian Garcia of La Junta. Kathy also leaves behind extended family who will continue to celebrate her life, as she touched the hearts of many.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta with Pastor Brandon Mills of First Southern Baptist Church officiating. A celebration of life will follow the service at the La Junta Elks Lodge from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.                 (119 1st Street; La Junta, CO 81050)
