Kevin Edward Lantz

Kevin Edward Lantz, 60, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at his La Junta home surrounded by his loving family. Kevin was born Friday, February 19, 1965 in La Junta, CO to parents Owen and Bessie (Conyers) Lantz.

He graduated from La Junta High School in 1983. Kevin worked as a certified optician for 36 years, ending his career at Ark Valley Vision.

Kevin was the best uncle in the world to Sarah Mahoney, Dillon Morlan, Coleton Morlan, and Sammi Mahoney Pankratz (Nick Pankratz). He was fascinated by history, aviation, and family genealogy. He loved hiking and looking for rock wall drawings in Higby Valley. He also loved going for car rides, tinkering in the shop, stargazing, and fishing on annual family trips to Cuchara. Most of all, Kevin loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Kevin is survived by his parents Owen and Bessie Lantz, sisters Paula Mahoney and Kim Morlan, niece Sarah Mahoney, nephews Dillon Morlan and Coleton Morlan, all of La Junta, CO and niece Sammi Mahoney Pankratz (Nick Pankratz) of Hobbs, NM. Kevin is preceded in death by his grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Graveside Service for Kevin will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at East Holbrook Mennonite Cemetery in Cheraw, CO.
