Carol peacefully passed away on August 20, 2026 in Pueblo West, Colorado.
Carol was born January 18, 1934, in Model, CO, to Manuel and Lydia (Lena Weibert) Eckerdt. She attended grade school in Hoehne and Model. Her parents moved to Phoenix, AZ when she was in the 7th grade, and she graduated from the 8th grade in Phoenix, AZ. They returned to Rocky Ford, and she attended High School in Rocky Ford, where she graduated with the class of 1951. Ten days after graduating from high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Grasmick. The couple celebrated 62 years of marriage. Two sons were born to this union, Rick and Kurt.
Carol worked for PMA (USDA) and campaigns at American Crystal Super Co. After the children were older, she worked for Valco and then Rocky Ford National Bank, where she worked for 20 years, retiring in 1989 as Assistant Vice President and Consumer Loan Officer. While working at RFNB, she attended and graduated from New Mexico School of Banking in 1981. After her retirement from RFNB in 1989, she went to work at Rocky Ford Housing Authority, where she was Project Administrator for McKitrick Manor and Bookkeeper until her retirement in 1999.
She is survived by grandchildren Brandon (Paula) Grasmick and Brooke (Marlon) Douglas, great-granddaughters Marlie and Myla Douglas, great-grandsons Rocco and Nico, and sister Claris Jean (CJ (Len) Chesler.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, in April 2014, son Rick in 1984, son Kurt in 2023, parents and parents-in-law, and brother Vernon in 2012.
Carol was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed entertaining and homemaking, and spending time with her family and friends. Carol loved the Lord and was a member of Valley Community Church.
Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Leona "Carol" Grasmick will be at Valley Community Church on Monday, September 7, 2026, at 10:00 am officiated by Pastor Tim Muth.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a contribution to Valley Community Church.
