Leona Louise Hinkley, 79, formerly of Fowler went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Denver, Colorado. She was born on October 20, 1939 in Osceola, Arkansas to Willis L. & Barbara E. (Nesler) Bunch.
She graduated in 1957 from Mt. Pleasant High School in Arkansas. Then went on to Drawghons School of Business in Springfield, Missouri. She met Deloss in 1958 and they were married on January 24, 1959. She worked at the La Junta Tribune Democrat; Otero County Clerk’s Office and Nibco where she was the first female supervisor and was also the first secretary for La Junta Development Inc. (LJDI). She was an avid bowler and sports fan. She was a youth bowling teacher and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with all of them.
She is survived by her children, Clark Hinkley of La Junta; Rhonda (Bruce Greenwalt) Yeater of Colorado Springs; Leonard (Pam) Hinkley of Brighton; Dee (Kathy Frisbie) Robinson of Denver; grandchildren, Leanne (Drew) Matthews, Tyler (Shavon Davis) Hinkley, Jaron (Jessie Klein) Hinkley, Shannon (Ahmed Boneaparte) Yeater, Sarah (Bryan) Stafford, Nate (Brooke McKee) Robinson; great-grandchildren, Talon & Logan Matthews, Elizabeth, Zoey & Emily Hinkley, Elijah, Jeziah & Linkin Boneaparte; step-mother, Louise Bunch of Newark, AR; brothers, Wayne (Mary) Bunch and Rick Bunch; sisters, Sherry Bunch and Brenda Bunch; adopted daughter, Chris (Mike) Musso; aunt, Joyce (Demp) Dodds; long-time friends, Dale (Betty) Fioretti of Swink; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Deloss C. Hinkley on January 13, 2019; brothers, Finis & Willis “Dub” Bunch.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church.
