Leslie "Les" Carlock, 73, of Rocky Ford, Colorado, passed away on June 6, 2026 at his home. He was born on June 26, 1952 in La Junta, Colorado to Viola “Bernice” (Criswell) & Loren L. Carlock. Les married Barbara Young and in this 37 year union had three children, Laurel, Jared and Katherine.

After completing high school, Les worked for the Santa Fe Railroad & Burlington Northern Santa Fe as a brakeman and conductor during the early years. Les was eventually promoted to Engineer until his retirement in 2017. Les was known as the compost man for several years because of his deep knowledge of the composting process. Les and his wife Barbara owned and operated New Earth Compost out of La Junta for several years. He was very vocal about his love for the Lord Jesus Christ and was always happy to share that with all who would listen.

Les is survived by his He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara, from their Oklahoma home, daughter Laurel Carlock of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, step-son Jared Roman (Meredith) of Decatur, GA, & step-daughter Katherine Loghry (Michael) of Bixby, Oklahoma, and 2 grandsons Liam and Samuel; mother, Bernice Carlock of Swink, Colorado and nephew Tyler Carlock of Dallas Tx. Les is preceded in death by his father, Loren Carlock, sister, Mary Branch, brother, James Carlock, and brother Daryl Carlock.

Per Les’s wishes cremation has been taken place.
