In Loving Memory of Lois Evelyn Ridennoure Stjernholm Bishop Freidenberger.
Lois Evelyn Ridennoure Stjernholm Bishop Freidenberger, a lifelong resident of Colorado’s Arkansas Valley, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, at the age of 96.
Born at home on June 10, 1930, in Higbee, Colorado to Lawrence & Etha (Taylor) Ridennoure, Lois spent her life rooted in the community she knew and loved. Throughout her many years, she devoted herself to her family, worked hard, remained active in her community, and found joy in dancing, traveling, and bringing people together around a good meal.
Lois married Ernest Stjernholm and raised their six children in Cheraw, Colorado. She helped keep the books for the family business, Ernie’s LP Gas, contributing to the work and responsibilities of family life. Following their separation, she moved to La Junta, where she worked at the pickle factory before later relocating to Fowler. There, she married Kenneth Bishop, who worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. Lois subsequently worked for Southeast Colorado Power Association in La Junta, where she remained until her retirement. After Kenneth’s passing, she married Fred Freidenberger and made her home in North La Junta.
Lois was an active member of her community and enjoyed participating in bowling leagues in La Junta. She loved to dance and travel, embracing opportunities to enjoy life and make memories along the way. She was also a wonderful cook, and those who knew her may especially remember the exceptional flakiness of her pie crust—a special touch that became one of her signature talents.
Above all, Lois’s life was defined by the family she raised, the work she contributed, and the connections she maintained throughout the Arkansas Valley. Her long life spanned generations, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Ridennoure and Etha Lynn Ridennoure; her brothers, Ben, Lawrence, Ted, and Jerry Ridennoure; her sisters, Betty Jo Hart, Ruby Marshall, and Patricia Bataglia; her children, Ronald, Duane, and Doris Stjernholm; and her husbands, Ernest Stjernholm, Kenneth Bishop, and Fred Freidenberger.
She is survived by her sons, Darwin Lee Stjernholm and his partner, Kathleen Peters, of Cheraw, Colorado; Robert Stjernholm and his partner, Ali Chambers, of Lakewood, Colorado; and Dean Stjernholm and his wife, Paula Stjernholm, of Dillon, Colorado. She is also survived by her grandson, Samuel Stjernholm, of Lakewood, Colorado; her granddaughter, Francie Jones, of Perth, Australia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Lois’s life will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 10:00 at First Church of God in La Junta (901 Carson Ave.) with Pastor Leon Berry officiating. Family and friends will have an opportunity to gather to honor her memory and celebrate the life she lived.
Lois will be remembered for her dedication to family, her community involvement, her love of life’s simple pleasures, and the warmth she brought to those around her. May she rest peacefully and may the memories she leaves behind bring comfort to all who loved her.
