Marilyn Ruth Claycomb
October 6, 1937 – January 19, 2024
Marilyn Ruth Claycomb, 86, of La Junta, CO passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at The Center Rehabilitation Center in Pueblo, CO. She was born in Elkhart, KS to Jack & Nell (Harman) Walsh on Wednesday, October 6, 1937.
Marilyn had a love for horses. She showed her horses at the Quarter Horse shows throughout western Kansas in her teen years. She worked at the Elkhart Phone Company at the age of 15. After graduation, she met Pete Claycomb from Guymon, Oklahoma they married and moved to Colorado. Marilyn went to work for Rocky Ford High School as a secretary. She had 2 sons, Chris and Clark. She later started her own advertising company which turned into a very successful business for her.
Marilyn spent most of her summers at the family cabin in San Isabell, which was one of her favorite places to be. Each year, when it was time to close the cabin for winter, having to leave would make her sad for at least a week. After that, it was back to business as usual. She was an amazing lady and was always ready and willing to help her friends and others. Marilyn was very faithful and loved her Church of God. Back in the day, she would say “Quit what you are doing, it’s time for Church.” She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Chris Claycomb of La Junta, CO; Clark Claycomb of La Junta, CO; granddaughter, Shelby (Josh Eveatt) Whalen of La Junta, CO; step-grandson, Josh (Chelsea) Acree of Dallas, TX; great grandchildren, Brenden & Addison Eveatt and PJ Eveatt; Luke, Carter, & Jackson Acree; many close friends also survive.
