Marvin O. Miller, 71, of La Junta, Colorado passed away on September 1, 2025, in Rocky Ford, Colorado. He was born on December 26, 1953, in La Junta to father, Ralf Miller and mother, Eva (McClain); who raised him with, stepfather, Edward F. Matthews.
Marvin held many jobs including being a janitor for the methodist church with his Uncle Melvin McLain and stringing onion sacks at Girch Center food company. Above all, he overcame the odds, Marvin was not expected to live, and it was stated if he had survived, he would be in a vegetable state. Marvin not only survived but he was able to walk, talk, read but most of all sing. He loved to sing and anything to do with music. In most recent years, he sang specials at church, sang Acapella at his mother’s funeral and sang for friends and staff at the pioneer care center.
Marvin is survived by his sister, Doris (Rick) Gumke of La Junta, CO; brother, Mike (Diana) Anglin of Colorado City, CO; aunt, Dortha McLain of La Junta, CO; Nephews, Jason (Kacie) Anglin of Rye, CO, Phillip (Megan Johnson) of Rye, CO, Nathan (Alicia) Gumke of La Junta, CO, Carrie (Billy) Zumwalt of La Junta, CO, Sarah Gumke of La Junta, CO; great Nephews, Taylor Gumke of La Junta, Connor and Markus Anglin of Rye, CO, Jason, Casey and Isaac Zumwalt of La Junta; great nieces, Sammie and Emily Zumwalt of La Junta; and cousins.
He was very proud of and loved his nieces and nephews.
Marvin is preceded in death by his father, Ralf Miller; mother and step- father, Edward and Eva Matthews; grandmother, Gladys McLain; uncles, Melvin McLain and Willis Anway and his aunt Doreen (Joe) Cummins.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with AMR/Med.-Trans. Chaplin Nathan Gumke officiating. Marvin’s favorite color was red, the family encourages you to join them in wearing red in his honor. Burial will follow afterwards at Fairview Cemetery.
