Monica Angela Lopez

Monica "Angela" Lopez, passed away on May 24, 2025, at 11:00 p.m., with her family at her bedside. She was born on September 11, 1949, in Los Pinos, Colorado to Marcos & Bernilda (Salazar) Vigil.

She worked as a CNA at Denver General and was also a seamstress at Rocky Mountain Jean Factory. She worked many years as a housekeeper at Fowler Nursing Home where she took pride in every job she performed and loved working with the residents there. Monica was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was there for every milestone with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Monica is survived by her husband, David Lopez Sr. of 48 years; sisters Mary Rivera and Betty Vigil; children, Fred Mestas, Denise Montoya and David (Erlinda) Lopez, Jr.; grandchildren, Saibo (Celia) Mestas, Sarah (Faustino) Mestas, Israel Mestas, Brianna Lopez, Nicanor (Aleesa) Lopez, Kaylie (Malachi) Torres, Amity Montoya, Marissa (Ramon) Ayala, Wilfred (Vanessa) Montoya Jr., Guadalupe (Galilea) Martinez, and Yasmine Martinez; great-grandchildren, Alina & Lilliana Ayala, Oswin & Christa Montoya, Reveah Mestas, and Imani Gray Torres; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marcus & Bernilda Vigil; sister, Sandra Vigil; and daughter Yvonne Mestas. She will be sadly missed as she was loved my many. Fly high little Angel.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on June 12, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, Colorado, with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment following the Mass, will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Manzanola, Colorado. Food and drinks will be served after the burial in honor of Monica at the Manzanola Armory at 101 North Grand Ave, Manzanola, Colorado.
