Listen to Obituary

Nora Lina Quintana, 93, of Pueblo West, Colorado passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026, at her Pueblo West home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sunday, February 19, 1933, in Newdale, Colorado to Joe Ben, Sr. & Victoria Padilla.

Nora married John B. Quintana “JB” in 1949 in La Junta Colorado. They had 7 children. Early in the marriage, Nora was employed at the Old Sante Fe Hospital as a Nurses Aid until they closed. She also worked at the La Junta Western Foods “pickle plant” until the early 1970’s, returning off and on during the campaign, ultimately leaving to spend more time with her children and grandchildren. During this time, Nora also contributed to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church annual bizarre cooking in the kitchen.

In the 1980’s she finished her education and became a Certified Nursing Assistant, specializing in home healthcare. Nora and JB were always invited to friends and family functions not only for socializing, but to provide hours-long entertainment of singing and harmonizing together.

Nora took pride in being the Matriarch of the family and always enjoyed the holidays. The house was always filled with music and singing. Once she started cooking, there was no rest, and she would always be the last to eat. She always made sure everyone was taken care of before herself. Nora enjoyed Word Find puzzle books, TV Murder Mysteries and especially enjoyed sharing her ice cream with her grandchildren but would hide it from JB and her kids.

In the 2000’s Nora and JB moved to relocate closer to family. When JB passed, she spent a little time yearning for the day she would see him again. In the meantime, she enjoyed sitting in her yard, gardening, listening to music, spending time with her children, grandchildren and her dog Xena.

Nora had a big heart and ran at a high energy level. She gave her all to those she loved and was defiant to those who challenged them.

At the request of both Nora and JB, they are to be laid to rest together at the same time.

Nora is survived by her children Dianne (Don) Benavidez, Lupe Quintana; daughter-in-law, Julie Quintana; Ron (Pauline) Quintana, Fred Quintana, & Gerald Quintana; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, & 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews and extended family members also survive. She is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Quintana; sons, Gary and Del Quintana; parents, Joe Ben, Sr. & Victoria Padilla; sisters, Nancy & Julia; brothers Jimmy, Miguel, Robert, & Joe Ben, Jr.
