Penny Jean Baker

Penny Jean Baker, 74 of Abilene, from the Del Norte/Fowler Colorado area passed away Friday, September 4, 2026. She was born November 15, 1951, in LaJunta, Colorado, the daughter of Dick and Mildred (Saltzman) Catlin.

She was united in marriage to Dan Baker April 11, 1971. Penny drove a school bus and was a farm wife.

She is survived by her loving husband Dan. Daughter, Danette Winters. Grandchildren: Shayla Olson (Ray), Bryce Winters (Macy), Bo Winters, Shandy Deberge (Charlie) and Luke Winters (Emma) and Ten Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Brian Scott Baker, brothers, Rollo Catlin, Roy Catlin and sister, Judith Catlin.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 5-7 P.M., at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Fowler, Colorado with Pastor BJ Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Fowler Cemetery.

Family suggests memorials be given to ALS. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, KS 67410.
