Raymond Anthony Rael (Wsk), 64, passed away peacefully from his battle with cancer on May 18, 2021 at his Rocky Ford home alongside with his family. He was born on April 20, 1957 in La Junta to Leroy & Victoria (Hernandez) Rael.
Anthony graduated from La Junta High School and retired from BNSF Railroad with 40 years of service.
Anthony was a local and renowned artist. He partook in many arts such as rock sculpture, acrylic painting, inking and graphite drawing. Anthony had a heart of gold and a love for nature, his family, and life. He would want everyone to think about the good memories about him and prosper. He was a one of a kind man and father and will be missed. Strength and Honor Da Bears!
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marie (Rocha) Rael; children, Joe (Stephanie) Montoya, Wendi Montoya, Kim (David) Montoya, Ray Anthony Rael, Rikki (Dante) Rael, and Bonita Rael; siblings, Gloria (Joe) Gonzales, Rebecca (George) Jiron, Ruben (Esther) Rael, Luz Rael, and Yolanda Rael; many nieces and nephews, son and sister-in-law’s, and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Rael, Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford with Father Soosai officiating. Interment will follow at the Rocky Ford Cemetery.
