Robert "Bob" Darrel Rose

January 22, 1944 — February 15, 2018

Robert “Bob” Darrel Rose, 74, of Pueblo and formerly longtime Kim resident passed away on February 15, 2018 at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. He was born on January 22, 1944 to William Thomas and Viola Daphna (Hunnicutt) Rose. If you were from Kim, you knew him as Bobby.

He graduated from Kim High School in 1962 and moved to Johnson, Kansas and worked for a rancher for a short period of time. He then returned to Kim where he continued ranching and working on the family ranch with his Dad.

He married his wife Brenda McDonald, on August 7, 1965 in the Holy Chapel of Wichitas in Oklahoma.

In 1979, he became a Deputy Sheriff for Las Animas County and retired after 30 years of service.

He enjoyed keeping his family entertained on the computer with all of his modern technology skills – he was a Facebook junkie. He loved giving his first grandson a hard time about pickups and operating ranches. He enjoyed attending his granddaughters rodeo events where he met many wonderful rodeo families. He also enjoyed his grandsons playing soccer and theater performances in Colorado Springs.

He and Brenda had moved to Pueblo, but his heart was always in Kim and he enjoyed his weekly visits back down to the ranch and community.

He is survived by his wife Brenda; daughters, Gina (Vic) Waggoner and Tara Rose; five grandchildren, Tyler Waggoner, Jenna (Riley) Pruitt, Nicole Waggoner, Davin Roark and Logan Roark; and one very special new great-granddaughter, Chloe Rose Pruitt; sisters, Ruthie (Jim) White, Darlene Adams, and Sonja (Russ) Plagge; sister-in-law, Theresa Rose; also survived by Wynona (Jerry) Nottingham, Mary Lou (TJ) Seymour, and Jeanie (Larry) Ferguson. Bob also had many cousins and many nephews and nieces whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Tom Rose, and brothers-in-law, Don Adams and Eddie McDonald.

Bob has seen a lot of happiness and a lot of sorrow in his life’s journey and he will always be known for trying to do the right thing. He is leaving a great legacy behind and will be missed by so many.
