Rosalea Matthews

Rosalea M. Deatherage - Matthews, 75, passed away October 2, 2014 at her La Junta home. She was born on September 17, 1939 in La Junta, Colorado to Jasper & Beulah (Nichols) Deatherage.


Rosalea loved crocheting, shopping, and visiting with people. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She will be missed dearly by family and friends.


She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Rick) Olberding of Florida and their children, Jeff, Jon, & Rebecca; daughter, Sherry (John Chambers) Page of La Junta and children, Lindsay Birchfield, Erin Hope Ehrlich, & Jacob Ehrlich; daughter, Kathy (Chuck) Schultz of Illinois and their children, Christopher Coonfield & Kenny Coonfield; son, William (Tanya) Matthews of Florida and children, Crystal & Richard; daughter, Patty Matthews of La Junta and children, Richard & Jennifer; son, Michael Matthews of La Junta; brothers, Billy Deatherage of La Junta; John Deatherage; sister, Irene Bamber and brother, Donald Deatherage; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud Matthews; son, Richard Matthews.



Funeral services will be Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ken West of the Crowley Community Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. also at Peacock Memorial Chapel.  Interment will follow at Higbee Cemetery.
