Rosalee M. Mahoney

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 1996 at Church of Christ, 10th and Cimarron, La Junta, for Rosalee A. Mahoney, 101, longtime La Junta resident. Officiating will be Evangelist Dan Flournoy of Church of Christ, Arlington, TX. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Mahoney died Saturday, November 2, 1996, at Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center.

She was born February 8, 1895, in Notasulga, AL to Arthur and Georgia (Land) Jones.

When she was eight, she moved with her family to Hobart, OK. She came to Colorado with her mother and five sisters in a covered wagon in 1916. Family settled a claim near Andrix. She married Claude L. Mahoney June 2, 1917 in Trinidad. In 1924, she and her husband moved to La Junta where he was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Mrs. Mahoney was a member of the La Junta Church of Christ.

She is survived by a son, Ralph (Robin) Mahoney of Hopkinsville, KY; daughters, Wynona (Elroy) Hainline of Odessa, TX, Imogene (Don) Wheeler of Lithonia, GA; daughters in law, Rose Mahoney of Bellingham, WA, Ruth Mahoney of La Junta, and Joan Mahoney of Scottsdale, AZ; several nieces and nephews; 26 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 25 great, great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mahoney was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Mildred Waggoner in 1986; sons, Clarence Mahoney in 1975, Leon Mahoney in 1995, and Duane Mahoney in 1996; nine brothers and sisters.
