Rosie P. Munoz, 92, of La Junta, Colorado peacefully passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026 at her La Junta home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Monday, September 4, 1933 in Swink, Colorado to Carmen & Benita (Baca) Palacio.
Rosie was a member of the Logia Group/American Legion VFW in Ventura, CA. She worked at Tecolote (Owl) in Ojai, CA and did apartment cleaning. Rosie married Theodore M. Munoz in 1955, and they were married for 38 years until his passing in 1993. Her greatest job was being a mother and housewife for her family. She and Theodore moved back to Colorado in 1990 and worked the fields with her family.
Rosie loved to dance, play bingo and card games. She enjoyed cooking with family & friends. Taking rides to Cripple Creek to play slot machines was one of her favorite past times. She later met her life partner Sabino Pena Terraza whom she shared her life with for more than 30 years.
Rosie is survived by life partner, Sabino Pena Terraza; children, Richard (Machel) Munoz, Patricia Molina (Paul Pantoya), Tose Ann (Danny) Bustamante, & Jose Munoz; 12 grandchildren & several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Munoz; her parents; 2 grandchildren; her siblings, Salvador, Adelina, Pauline, Blanche, Joe, Josie, Mike, Romona, and Mary. She leaves behind her Furry Friend, “Queeny”.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 22, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta with Father Edwin Barlizo officiating.
