Shelly Hollenback

September 9, 1965 — April 10, 2020

Shelly was born in Denver, Colorado and lovingly welcomed by Jim & Opal on September 23, 1965 into the Hollenback family. She passed away April 10, 2020 at Parkview Hospital.

She attended North La Junta Elementary School where she made lifelong friends. Graduated from La Junta High School in 1985 and Otero Junior College in 1987.

In high school she was a member of the National Honor Society and always cherished her trip to France and England with the French Club.

During her ten years in 4-H sheep and rabbits were her chosen projects.

She worked various jobs in the Arkansas Valley and was employed at Six Star for 10 years. While there she enjoyed helping customers and taking care of her jewelry department.

Shelly thoroughly enjoyed all types of music and karaoke.

She and Richard Evans joined in June of 1999. They made their home in Rocky Ford and were blessed with a beautiful baby boy November 20, 2001. Hunter Grant was Shelly's pride and joy. She always said he was the best thing about her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim & Opal Hollenback, sister Paula Hollenback, niece Stacy Storey, grandparents Jakie & Gertie Crane and biological father Merle Bernhardt.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Evans, son Hunter Evans, sister and brother-in-law Debbie & Greg Storey, biological mother Connie Bernhardt, sister Michelle Bernhardt, nephew Jonathan Schrenk and many cousins and friends.

Shelly was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all including her dog Fritz-er-Snitchel.

A memorial service is planned for 1:00 PM Friday, June 5, 2020 at the North La Junta Community Center.
