Velma (Thomas) Daugherty, 89, died after a short illness, on January 2, 2012, surrounded by family. She was a resident of the Swink Manor for 14 years.
Velma was born October 25, 1922, in Trinidad, Colorado, the second of 6 children. She married Walter Dalgren Daugherty, who preceded her in death in 1980.
She is survived by one sister, Veora Hunter of Denver; two brothers, Weston Thomas of Colorado Springs and Donald (Jane) Thomas of La Junta; two sons, Donald (Mary) Daugherty and their children, Shanan, Molly & Kevin; Glen (Linda) Daugherty and daughter, Melissa; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Weston Thomas and Alice (McIntosh) Thomas, and brothers, Norman and Walter.
Graveside services will be Friday, January 6, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at the Trinidad Masonic Cemetery in Trinidad, Colorado with Reverend Tom Dudley of the Swink United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home.
