Warren Eugene Shelton, Ii

Warren Eugene Shelton, II, 74, of La Junta passed away on July 15, 2018 at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. He joined the Shelton family on December 20, 1943 in La Junta to Warren Eugene & Norma Jean (Sheets) Shelton and his two sisters Joyce and Shirley.

He grew up on the Shelton family farm and graduated from Swink Schools. He always loved the land and took over the farm in 1979. He married Sue Schneider, August 3rd, 1968. They were blessed with two sons. Scott Warren and Andrew Eugene. Scott shared his Dad's love of farming and still farms; Andrew followed his mother's vocation and became a teacher. Warren was so proud of his sons and was a wonderful father and grandfather.

Gene also loved four legged creatures and never met a dog he couldn't pet. One of his favorite pastimes was looking at crops with his dog hanging out the window of his old pickup.

Gene and Sue shared many years of marriage and we're just days away from celebrating their 50th anniversary.

He is survived by his wife, Christie Sue Shelton of the La Junta home; sons, Scott Warren Shelton of Rocky Ford and Andrew Eugene (Marianne) Shelton of Alamosa, CO; grandchildren, Robyn Ellen (Jacob) Halouska of Nebraska; Samantha Lynn, Hannah Elizabeth, and Warren Andrew Shelton; great-grandchild, Patrick Halouska; sisters, Shirley Jean Shelton of Clifton, CO and Joyce Ann Coats of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Dell of the First Christian Church in Rocky Ford officiating. Family requests that you dress casual as Gene would have wanted.
